Spain has a large hunting industry, and the unknown secret is that most Spanish outfitters hunt the same government reserves. Alvaro Villegas is my favorite! He’s an energetic young outfitter and keen hunter, absolutely fluent in English, a good guy and perfect gentleman…and his prices are by far the best I have seen in Spain. He has good access to the full range of Spanish species, including some excellent free-range mouflon as well as all the ibex, both chamois, and the antlered game and wild boar. I met him some years ago through my friend and Spanish hunting legend the late Ricardo Medem, and I hunted with Alvaro for three of the four Spanish ibex and the Cantabrian chamois. I trust him completely!
