Dallas Safari Club

The Dallas Safari Club 2020 DSC Expo is one of the largest fundraising events in Texas and one of the largest outdoor shows in the country.  Over the past five years the DSC Convention and Expo has raised over $5 million dollars for conservation, education and hunter advocacy initiatives around the world.

The 2020 DSC Convention and Expo is held at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, TX.  The host hotel is the Omni Dallas Hotel which is right next to the convention center.  The show opens Thursday, Jan. 9 and runs through Sunday, Jan. 12. Hours will be Thursday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Sunday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in downtown Dallas.  This year the Life Member Breakfast will begin at 7:30 am and noted conservationists Scott Ellis of Guide Outfitters Association of British Columbia and Danene van der Westhuyzen, the president of Namibia Professional Hunting Association will attend.  Evening speakers at the banquet and auction galas include 2020 Artist of the Year Patrick Mavros, 2019 Outfitter of the Year Michel Mantheakis, and Buzz Charlton of Charlton McCallum Safaris.

Seminars this year at the 2020 DSC Convention and Expo include medicine and deer genetics to anti-poaching efforts in Africa and around the world.  Free seminars take place on Friday and Saturday of the show, and the schedule will be live on the DSC website soon.  Speakers like Craig Boddington, Ivan Carter, Shane Mahoney and Ludo Wurfbain are just a sample of the great speakers lined up for 2020.

Dallas Safari Club is a member of IUCN.  DSC is a conservation organization that is mission focused and fully funded by hunters.  The full time team at DSC is less than 15 people, but the organization has a volunteer army of over 500 people who are dedicated to the organization.  Each year DSC hosts the Greatest Hunters Convention on the Planet™ that raises funds for hunter advocacy, conservation and outdoor education.

Advocacy and protecting hunters rights is a large part of the Dallas Safari Club mission.  DSC-PAC has been very successful in defeating legislation that would curtail hunting rights.  Donations and contributions to the DSC-PAC help to support and elect pro-hunting, pro-second Amendment candidates at both federal and state levels.  DSC also works on programs to introduce shooting and hunting to women, youth and adult-onset hunters.  Annually, Dallas Safari Club funds programs focused on quail research, desert bighorn sheep reintroduction, and habitat enhancement in Texas.  As well, DSC funds programs in British Columbia focused on moose, elk, sheep and caribou projects and elephant and lion projects in Africa.

Four day passes at the 2020 DSC Convention and Expo run $55, and single day passes run $25 at the hunting convention.  DSC keeps costs down by working with a wide variety of corporate sponsors like Hornady, Boyt Harness Company, Bass Pro Shops, MidwayUSA, Trijicon and many, many more.  These corporate sponsors help to make the Greatest Hunters’ Convention on the planet run smoothly and efficiently.

Artists like John Banovich, Peter Blackwell, Salley Maxwell, Raj Paul and Jocelyn Russell will have exhibits at the show.  Collectors will not want to miss the auctions that feature many great paintings, sculptures and carvings as well as functional art and furniture.

The 2020 DSC Convention and Expo looks like it is shaping up to be one of the best shows of the year.  For more information on the Greatest Hunters’ Convention on the Planet™, call (972) 980-9800, or visit www.biggame.org/convention.
