As my friend Jim Rough likes to say, “you don’t fish for big salmon, you hunt them.” That’s good, because I’m much more of a hunter than a fisherman…but almost on an annual basis I’ve enjoyed salmon fishing at Jim’s Black Gold lodge for a number of years. Jim is himself a serious hunter with tremendous experience, but his business is salmon fishing, and Black Gold is fantastic. Located at Rivers Inlet northeast of Vancouver Island, Black Gold is a floating city that he moves into place from safe winter anchorage during the summer season. Cabins are comfortable, the lodge is fantastic, the area is gorgeous, and the fishing for both silver (Coho) and king (Chinook) salmon is great.

- Black Gold Lodge offers a hotel-like experience to its guests.

- Guests are greeted upon arrival by seaplane and escorted to their cottages.

- The staff ensures guests are comfortable and settled in.

- Beverage orders are promptly delivered, and fishing permits are arranged.

- The lodge has a chef and sous chefs who welcome new arrivals.

- While guests are out fishing, the staff cleans and tidies their cottages.

- The lodge prioritizes providing exceptional service without interfering with guests' fishing experience.

- Guests have the freedom to fish at their convenience, from morning till evening.

- Location: Rivers Inlet, 300 miles north of Vancouver, on the Central Coast of British Columbia.

- Accessible only by boat or sea-plane, with the nearest road being 80 miles away.

- Rich wildlife, including bald eagles, orcas, river otters, cougars, bears, sea lions, and more.

- Humpback whales are common in the area, often seen from the lodge.

- Rivers Inlet is a major congregation point for salmon heading to three river systems for spawning.

- The location provides the best and longest period of productive fishing, with large 50-60 pound chinook salmon abundant in the 30-mile fjord.

- No need for additional travel as productive fishing areas are easily accessible from the mouth of the Inlet.

About this Offer

THE CRAIG BODDINGTON SALMON FISHING TOURNAMENT

July 26th - 29th, 2024

WITH THOUSANDS $$$$ IN PRIZES!

Limited spaces available for this tournament

Craig Boddington is a world renowned author and television personality. Known as the “Dean of African Hunting” he has authored over 3500 articles on hunting the world. Craig has enjoyed fishing with us at Black Gold and wrote a story in the Safari Times September ‘09 issue. In that story, Craig talked about the “cross-over-sportsman” – hunters that fish and fishers that hunt. That gave us the idea for this tournament.

It’s no secret that tournament host, Jim Rough of Black Gold Lodge is an avid hunter-fisher and has done both on more than a few continents. This tournament, is what we call “the derby with a difference”. Almost all prizes are hunting Safaris with a few world class fishing destinations to be sure there is something for everyone. These prize Safaris are on three continents - North America, New Zealand and Africa. Read the PDF that follow for full descriptions of these prizes...
