Widely known among anglers as one of the best hotspots for big bass, the lake and smaller waters in the area also offer superb waterfowl hunting, with exceptional variety and including several duck species uncommon in norther flyways, including cinammon teal, canvasback and tree ducks. Tamaulipas also offers incredible high-volume dove and pigeon shooting , and is one of the last bastions in North America of the bobwhite quail. Quail hunting is done along the edges of agriculture with good pointing dogs; on a typical day several dozen coveys may be encountered! Uniquely, Tamaulipas is also home to three subspeices of whitetails, and javelina are plentiful!
Hacienda Las Palmas is easiy reached by good roads from McAllen, Texas and offers comfortable lodging, authentic Mexican cuisine, a professional, friendly staff, and the unusual combination of great fishing, wingshooting, and big game...all within close proximity of the hacienda...and its beautiful palms!
