My old friend Mike Hawkridge is one of the best hunters I know.
Great horseman, veteran trapper, houndsman, ace wolf caller, great guy and good company in the field and in camp. His Alphadog Outdoors hunts exclusive, game-rich territory in central British Columbia, allowing him to offer a unique mix of awesome adventures in fall, winter, and spring. Mike and his team pride themselves on good relations with Canada’s First Nation, so much of their hunting is done on ancestral tribal hunting grounds.
Hawkridge and his team prefer traditional hunting methods, operating from tent and spike camps as called for, with Alphadog’s new Whiskey Jack Lodge as a comfortable base of operations.
His country is excellent for Canada moose and Rocky Mountain elk and is home to both mule deer and whitetails. Central BC has one of the densest populations of black bears, hunted both spring and fall, with good opportunity for extra-large bears. Winter is for hound hunting for lynx and big Canadian mountain lions. Winter is also the best time to specifically hunt wolves. The wolf is one of North America’s most difficult animals to hunt on purpose, but a wolf can be encountered on any hunt. Wolf hunting is an Alphadog specialty, and they purchase a wolf tag for every hunter.
In the winter, Alphadog Outdoors also offers a unique Trapline Adventure, five days on a trapline with experienced trapper guides, targeting the full range of Canadian furbearers, including beaver, lynx, marten, mink, fisher, otter, wolf wolverine, and more. Mike and his team pride themselves on being modern day “mountain men,” and this Trapline Adventure uses some of the same techniques that opened our continent more than a century ago.
We are incredibly proud to have Alphadog Outdoors as part of our CBEO family.
