Wow, I can’t believe Santa is slicking up his sled runners! This time of year flies by. As my Dad liked to say: “Long time a-coming, short time a-going.” Sunday night we finished our Kansas rifle season, had 10 guests for two rotations. Our Timber Trails Whitetail Hunts are barely a 50-yard dash compared to the long-distance running most of our outfitters do through long seasons, for some much of the year. This is when I appreciate you and your families the most, because after our 12-day season I’m exhausted and not ready for January, Convention Crunch for many of us.

I am taking a short holiday break, hope all of you are as well. Total departure for me, I’m headed to daughter Brittany and son-in-law Brad’s beach house in Swakopmund, on Namibia’s Skeleton Coast, where we’ll celebrate Brad’s 50th birthday and Christmas. Oddly, in 47 years of “commuting” back and forth to Africa, this will be one of few African trips that involve no hunting. The only other exceptions were a couple of Marine Corps gigs. No option this time: Peak of summer in Namibia, hunting season closed. Looking forward to kicking back with family and friends. First, I’m going to try to sleep for a couple of days!
This week, we’re proud to feature Diamond Outfitters, owned and operated by Dan and Terri Adler, great folks, awesome family, probably North America’s largest veteran-owned outfit, and one of the largest for Western big game. I think I’m tired? Diamond has been going at it full bore at least since August, offering some 15 species in five Western states plus Sonora…and their season still has months to run.
Good hunting,
